Use It Or Lose It! Maximizing Your Dental Benefits Before the End Of The Year
Thu, Sep 20th, 2018
Did you know your dental benefits reset every year? It's true. If your dental benefits plan is like most others it will reset on a calendar year basis, you will lose out on all unused benefits after December 31st. Dental insurance is unlike medical insurance in the aspect that dental insurance companies provide you a specific dollar amount to spend on your care each calendar year. This means that you may have dental dollars that will disappear when your plan renews.
The ADA published a study in 2016 that determined that among adults ages 19-64 who have private dental benefits a whopping 36.5% do not have a single dental claim within the year! That is literally hundreds of thousands of dollars being wasted every year.
Many dental benefits carriers provide coverage for two routine checkups per every calendar year. Most dental plans cover preventative services at 100% so you will likely have little to no out of pocket expense associated with this visit! So, if you haven't utilized your two cleanings this year give us a call to take advantage of your remaining benefits!
If you have been putting off getting those cavities repaired or require more extensive restorative treatment, the end of the year is the perfect time to get started. This is especially true if you have already met your annual deductible and have dollars remaining of your maximum. It's a double whammy- in addition to losing your unused benefits by delaying treatment, you will also be required to pay your deductible again.
If you're unsure of what remaining benefits you currently have on your plan give us a call and it would be our pleasure to help you maximize your benefits for 2018! November and December can be very busy months here at Brockport Smiles so make sure you give us a call now to ensure we can get you in before your benefits expire!
